Your 2009 Forecast

If you would like some entertaining reading today, search around and see what the 2009 forecast is for every topic from our financial markets to politics.

According to Chinese Astrology, 2009 is the Year of Earth Ox! I’m not sure if this means that I should buy an ox, eat one for dinner or trust that some sacred ox will be looking over me this year.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says, “long-range weather forecast for this winter will be much colder and drier than normal, with snowfall above normal in the north and below normal in the south. The coldest temperatures will occur in late December; early, mid-, and late January…”

Colder? Yup, we just had a frigid December, but drier? We’re not beating Spokane’s record, but I have more snow on the ground right now than I usually do by February. The short-term January forecast is predicting 6″ today, 10″ tonight and 6″ tomorrow… who wants more long range forecasting than that?

Financial predictions for 2009 range from complete and total collapse to a recovery and the greatest bull market (or maybe ox market?) of our time?

Housing market to recover in 2009? The national residential real estate recovery has begun and by next June, the excess inventory of available homes should be absorbed, according to Alexis McGee, president of, a leading real estate and property information specialist.

My predictions? I can guarantee that the financial markets will go up and down and no one knows when, why or how far. I predict that we’ll have snow and cold weather this winter and it will be warmer next June than it will be in March. I predict that Obama will disappoint a lot of people when everyone discovers that any President is beholding to the Congress to get anything done, and we now have the most corrupt and broken congress in USA history.

So what say you? Will you still be in a holding pattern for 2009, or will you go forward with plans to build your log home? Have you had enough of CNN and FOX telling you why you need to be terrified?

Oh, and one more thing… and this one will be up to us to make it come true…

Happy New Year Friends!

  • Agree greatly, want to run for your life just watch TV. It will put anyone in a panic mode (just what they want) As a log home builder myself, I have had a very good year thus far, many tire kickers as usual, but the year looks great. As far as the ox, who knows, sometimes standing in the middle of a field clueless sounds like it maybe the way to go sometimes.
