Illinois Log Cabin History
Possibly the most famous log cabin in history is the one associated with President Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site in Illinois preserves the cabin on the farm of Thomas and Sarah Bush Lincoln, parents of our 16th president.
Another Log Cabin is adjacent to the Bethalto Historical Museum. A fire at a local home in 1998 revealed a perfectly preserved log cabin within the structure. You can tour this cabin on Saturdays or by appointment.
The official state motto of Illinois is “State Sovereignty, National Union”.
