Crown of the ContinentMontana is called the "Treasure State" and Glacier National Park has been given the title of the "Crown of the Continent". Here in northwest Montana, we are acutely aware of what a special place this is and we understand why millions of people visit our home every year. Whitefish Lake's popularity has soared in the past decade as a favorite place for Hollywood's elite and the "rich & famous" to have second homes. Flathead Lake, just south of Whitefish, is the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi and ranks in the top 1% of the world's purest waters. Living here in NW Montana means having some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country just outside your door. Lakes carved by ancient glaciers, mountains that scrape the clouds and more wildlife than people is part of our daily experience. However, everything pales when you enter Glacier National Park and pay homage to what mother nature has produced.
There are over 700 lakes inside Glacier National Park, but only 131 of those have been officially named. Lake McDonald is the largest at 10 miles long and over a mile wide. As you drive along the lake you can often get a glimpse of wildlife that includes deer, moose and bears.
