Montana is called the "Treasure State" and Glacier National Park has been given the title of the "Crown of the Continent".  Here in northwest Montana, we are acutely aware of what a special place this is and we understand why millions of people visit our home every year.  Whitefish Lake's popularity has soared in the past decade as a favorite place for Hollywood's elite and the "rich & famous" to have second homes.

Flathead Lake, just south of Whitefish, is the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi and ranks in the top 1% of the world's purest waters.  Living here in NW Montana means having some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country just outside your door. Lakes carved by ancient glaciers, mountains that scrape the clouds and more wildlife than people is part of our daily experience. However, everything pales when you enter Glacier National Park and pay homage to what mother nature has produced.

Established as a National Park in 1910, Glacier Park offers more than one million acres of mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, lakes and its famed Going-to-the-Sun Road that travels for fifty-three miles winding up and around beautiful mountains and streams.  There are mountains that measure in at more than 10,000 feet tall and 27 glaciers in the park. Blackfoot Glacier is the largest at more than 400 acres.

There are over 700 lakes inside Glacier National Park, but only 131 of those have been officially named. Lake McDonald is the largest at 10 miles long and over a mile wide.  As you drive along the lake you can often get a glimpse of wildlife that includes deer, moose and bears. 

One of the most popular activities in the park is hiking and there are trails to accommodate all skill and endurance levels with nearly 700 miles of trails from which to choose. Fishing is also a popular pursuit in the park and no permit is required to fish within the park. Some of the best fly fishing in the country can be found in the streams that flow through Glacier National Park.
