Up until about 2 1/2 years ago, my livelihood was all about building brand new, big and beautiful, custom log homes. And believe me, the crew and I built our fair share of those log homes. You can see plenty of them while driving through the mountains here in Colorado. I operated a local contracting business working with custom log home builders and soon to be log home owners. We were building what in some cases were life long dreams. Here lately though, the log home building business, like everything else, is as slow as an old pack mule.
So what's a worn out, chainsaw wielding carpenter to do? The answer for me was easy. I just listened to the logs. Instead of throwing my name in the hat with all the other out-of-work carpenters, contractors, tradesmen and women out there, and the many other construction workers around the area, I made up my mind to follow my heart.
While it's been almost a decade or so ago, my first furniture designs came to me one day while sitting on a pile of logs taking our lunch break. If you have ever built your own log home or been around when the sound of tools fade and the saw dust settles, you know there's always a few logs left behind, right? You know those scraps, those cut-off pieces that more times than not, end up in the fireplace. The thought of those 'scrap' logs going up in smoke always weighed heavy on my mind. And it was that day, sitting on those logs, that I first began designing a new look for log furniture.

From day one, my simple designs utilized steel legs and iron accents. There's always been something about logs and steel that works for me. Maybe it was that old Iron-railing across the balcony in the family cabin. To me, the natural beauty of the logs combined with the stature and strength of steel makes any room feel 'right at home'. And now, by offering these steel legs to the others, |
I've made it simple for just about anyone with any old log, a chainsaw, and a wrench, to easily make their own beautiful log furniture. And believe me, there's nothing like the feeling you get when you make something with your own two hands that you know will last a lifetime.
