Can you remember your 'Lincoln Logs'?

When I think about my old collection of Lincoln Logs that I had as a young boy, I can't keep from grinning and feeling absolute joy.  I guess that's a leftover feeling of what I experience as a kid when I would play with my Lincoln Logs and my "toy soldiers" for hours on end. 

My Lincoln Logs and my 'Erector Set' were my favorite toys, and the ones which I remember the most.  I had no problem incorporating the two technologies and building my mechanized Wild West towns or whatever scenario I could dream up to occupy my time.  I can't tell you when my logs got packed away for the last time, but I am convinced that building those unimagined creations helped lay the groundwork for my future.

Did you know that the original Lincoln Logs (toys) were first produced in 1916 by John Lloyd Wright, the son of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright?  That Wright family did a lot of things right -- and made kids happy for generations.  

Maybe these are some of the reasons why so many of us grow-up with such a desire to build that special log home to live in.  Maybe those childhood experiences are a contributing force behind the boom in the modern log home industry.  Maybe that’s why I was driven to create the Log Cabin Directory and pull together every log home company in North America and “collect them”  J
