I’ll talk about my economic forecast in a minute, but first I want to talk about the 2011 Log Home Show schedule. Did you know that there are 8 log home shows scheduled for next month? From Montana to Vermont, there are shows happening every weekend. February has 6 shows and more are already scheduled for March, April and beyond.
The Log Home Directory is also pleased to report that we have the most complete 2011 log home show schedule available anywhere. We have combined the listings from all major show producers and listed them by date – all in one place. See the 2011 Log Home Show schedule and put these events on your calendar.
Rube Goldberg Economic Forecast
If the number of new log home companies that have listed their websites in our directory of late is any indication, this recession of ours could be coming to an end. In the past 30 days I’ve added 30-40 new listings in U.S. states and Canadian provinces.
Now I doubt that my less-than-scientific analysis of our nation’s economic woes would impress anyone inside the DC Beltway, but it is encouraging to see renewed activity in our industry. I’ve seen some months over the past few years where only a handful of companies submitted to this directory, and I’ve seen far too many close their doors.
With the New Year approaching, I choose to be optimistic and am hopeful that 2011 will be the best year for the log home business since 2006. I hope you join me in this because that crowd in Washington (who got us into this mess) are relying on us to get us out of it.

Tom, it certainly looks like the industry is growing. What with people wanting more environmentally friendly homes, more efficient homes with regards to heating, and of course log and wooden homes are just plain popular at the moment.
Here in the UK wooden buildings are certainly becoming more popular, especially considering we don’t really have a history of it.
All the best.
