Montana Log Homes

Log Homes & Log Cabins FOR SALE

How was your weekend?

I’m killing time waiting for the Super Bowl festivities to begin, so I thought I’d do something constructive like write about the weather.  Here I am in NW Montana (Glacier country I’ll have you know) and we haven’t seen an appreciable snowfall in weeks.

Earlier this morning I spoke with my daughter who lives in Washington DC and she is looking at more than two feet of snow on the ground with more on the way; family in Pennsylvania give the same report.  Where’s the justice in that?

I’m nestled in a log home in the backwoods of Montana with a woodstove cooking that’s almost making it uncomfortable inside as it’s only 36 degrees outside.  I ask you… what’s wrong with this picture?

It appears that much of the country this weekend is receiving weather that is not the norm.  I wonder if this strange fluke in the weather has any significance for the Colts or Saints later today?  Naw… probably not, but we’ll know soon enough.

My weekend was a catch-up marathon.  Since the holidays, it seems like I have been behind in everything, so I committed myself to getting caught up with chores that I’ve been putting off.  One of those tasks was to process more than 65 ‘past due’ submissions to the Log Home Directory.  Whoa!

Considering the sad state of our economy, I was surprised to see how many new companies are appearing.  But the more I thought about it, the more sense it made.  When things get tough and businesses aren’t hiring, the entrepreneur inside of us gets juiced and starts looking for ways to make a difference.

If you haven’t browsed through our directory in a while, I encourage you to see what’s been added.  Apparently there is renewed interest in our industry in general because our traffic is up more that 80% this year (over 2009’s 1st qtr.).  There are a lot of people looking for log home information.  More interest in log homes and more new companies… I like this trend.

  • Tom,
I can relate to your wood stove comment! We’ve had below normal temps here in Tennessee since the first of the year. I don’t do well with the cold…so I’ve had some really nice fires. There’s nothing like the heat from a good old wood stove!

Also, it’s awesome to see the entrepreneurial spirit of our country. Freedom breeds hope and an effort to better one’s self. Part of that is also seeing your dreams realized. I think that is why log homes will continue to prevail. They’re more than just another home, they’re a life-long goal for many!

  • Hey, I LOVED the game. I bet on the Saints and they didn’t let me down. Great game. Fortunately I live in TX so worrying about snow is not an issue.
