Green will grow the log home industry

“The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.”  ~ Samuel Johnson

“The true measure of a man is what he would do if he knew he would never be caught.”  ~ Lord Kelvin, an Irish Scientist, 1824-1907

The true measure of a business is a subjective call by any standards. In the log home industry suffering these terrible economic conditions of late, I would say that the true measure of a business is how they continue to do the right things for the betterment of the industry and their consumers regardless of the economic climate.

In a time when log home companies of every size are experiencing severe economic challenges and struggling for survival, it is easy to abandon lofty ideas and focus only on company preservation. Non-revenue generating awareness programs would be the first casualty with most companies, but PrecisionCraft continues to advance their GREEN LOG Homes & Lifestyle AwardsTM with the 2009 Call for Entries.

From GREEN LOG Homes & Lifestyle Awards™ website… “This program was created in response to the growing demand for green building solutions, products, and information. The goal of the awards is to locate and shine a spotlight on those companies and individuals who are enabling healthier homes and lifestyles.”

I applaud their determination to push this forward as such a program will help to raise the awareness of prospective log home buyers and introduce new people to our industry. I believe that such a promotion will benefit all companies in the log home business. For this reason, I would encourage everyone to participate and recommend companies and products that offer a green building solution or saves energy.
