Building ordinary stairs can be a challenge even for experienced carpenters. Constructing a staircase from half-round logs requires a professional. Log Stairs Replacement

This video shows the log staircase being removed and replaced on the front of my home (yup, your friendly editor’s home). The previous owner did not treat the wood or maintain it properly.  A few of the checks in the treads collected water over the years and by the time I became aware of the damage it was too advanced to do anything except replace the staircase.
