Choosing your manufacturer or dealer and contracting with a builder is only part of the process of building your log home. Of course, many “packages” include everything from floor to shingles, but you will probably want to add your own customizing touches. These pages list companies that specialize in products like custom doors, railings, stairways and flooring.

Log Home Industry Associations

Most of the large log home companies, and many independents belong to one or more industry associations. Below are the main organizations associated with our industry.

International Log Builders’ Association founded in 1974, the International Log Builders’ Assn. is a worldwide organization dedicated to furthering the craft of handcrafted log building, to the advancement of log builders, and to the promotion of the highest standards of their trade.  The association provides educational services related to the craft of log building, develop and disseminate educational material and programs related to the craft, establish operating trust funds for scholarships and educational purposes.

International Log Builders' Association

The assn. writes and distributes educational materials on log construction to individuals, institutions, and industry.

American Institute of Architects (AIA) – Locate professional architects for commercial, residential and institutional architecture.
Canadian Lumbermen’s Association (CLA)membership is divided into four bureaus servicing the softwood and hardwood lumber manufacturing community.

Hardwood Council was founded in 1993, and is a coalition of 11 hardwood lumber and product associations. The Council provides technical information on North American hardwood applications for builders, architects, interior designers and remodeling companies.
Loghomeology is a web site that explains all the terms and unique expressions associated with the log home and timber frame industry.
